Learning to write
One of the gifts of my profession is learning how to write. It’s a lifelong process to which there is no end, but many beginnings. I began many times, in many ways, for many reasons, and in many languages. I wrote prose and poetry, fact and fiction, letters and songs.
I am not one for funerals. I don’t like them, I hardly ever attend them. Save for family ones, I attended three so far, one of which was last week, for one of my PhD supervisors. I know very little about him, but the way he taught me how to turn ideas into words gave me glimpses into his love for literature and philosophy and knowledge and science, and life.
One of the gifts of my profession is learning how to write, and one of the gifts I received from Chris was him teaching me how to do it. So thank you, Chris.
